NATIONAL VOTERS DAY

All the students including NSS volunteers of S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College for Women took part in Voters Day Pledge on   25th January 2021. The National Voters Day is celebrated every year as mark of the foundation day of Election Commission of India, i.e. 25th January 1950. The main purpose of the National Voters Day celebration is to encourage, facilitate and maximize the enrolment of new voters. The theme for this year is ‘Making Our Voters Empowered, Vigilant, Safe and Informed’, envisages active and participate voters during elections. PULSE POLIO VACCINATION REPORT

The NSS volunteers of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women participated and rendered service at Pulse Polio Centre at Lakshmi Nagar, Chromepet on 31st January 2021. This Centre was driven in tie up with Municipality Staff, Anjugam Health Care centre and B.Sc Nursing Student of Balaji Medical College, Chromepet. Our NSS Unit deputed five NSS volunteers and all NSS Programme Officers to serve the Pulse Polio centre.  Pulse Polio is an immunisation campaign established by the government of India to eliminate poliomyelitis (Polio) in India by vaccinating all children under the age of five years against the polio virus. Martyr’s Day – A PLEDGE TO END UNTOUCHABILITY

The NSS Units of S.D.N.B. Vaishnav College for Women conducted a pledge taking session on account of Martyrs Day who laid down their lives in the struggle for India’s Freedom. Every year we pay this homage on 30th January. Since 30th January 2021 is a holiday this year, the administrator insisted on celebrating Martyr’s Day on 29th January 2021. Our NSS volunteers observed  two minutes silence and also took pledge against Untouchability. By taking the pledge our volunteers learnt to avoid violence against “Untouchables” and it is a crime. REPUBLIC DAY REPORT

The NSS units of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women celebrated Republic Day on 26th January 2021 as a remark that the Constitution of India came into effect. The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26th November 1949 and came into effect on 26th January 1950 with a democratic government system. We celebrated this day by hosting our National Flag in our college by our Principal. Our NSS volunteers celebrated this auspicious day through virtual mode by giving a speech about the republic day. Bonded Labour Abolition Day Pledge

The NSS units of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women took pledge against Bonded Labour on 09th February 2021. Bonded labour, also known as debt bondage and peonage, happens when people give themselves into slavery as security against a loan or when they inherit a debt from a relative. Debt bondage in India or Bandhua Mazdoori was legally abolished in 1976. So,the department of Labour has proposed to observe 9th February 2021 as an anti-bonded labour day to create awareness among us,especially the vulnerable community about the laws and the provisions to combat it. The NSS units of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women observed Road Safety month from 18th January 2021 to 17th February 2021. This year instead of “Road Safety Week”, a month-long campaign “National Road Safety Month” is observed. The theme of this year is, “Sadak Suraksha- Jeevan Raksha”. Celebration of India’s 75 years of Independence

As a mark of celebrating India’s 75 years of  Independence – Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav , the NSS Units of S.D.N.B.Vaishanv college for Women conducted Essay Writing Competition on 12th  March 2021 on the topic “India’s Freedom Struggle” .The Mahotsav is a series of events to be organized by the government to commemorate the 75th  Anniversary of India’s Independence. It was on March 12, 1930 that Gandhiji began the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram against the Salt Laws along with 81 padyatris. Read More…

OUTREACH PROGRAM ON ROAD SAFETY AND AWARENESS

The NSS Units and Department of Hindi (Aided) of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women conducted an Outreach program as part of Helmet Saves in collaboration with Exide Life and Tapas Foundation. This outreach program was titled on the topic “Road Safety and Awareness on 22nd March 2021 through Zoom meet. The session was chaired by three Resource persons. The first session was given by Vipul Singh, an Activist, Street Play Artist, Campaigner, TEDX Speaker. The second session was chaired by Divya Bist Lawyer Advocate. The third session was given by Dr.Rahul Singh, MBBS from KMC Manipal, MD from Bhavnagar. This outreach program gave a clear vision about the importance of wearing a helmet. It also gives an outline about the first aid given to accident victims and the Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (cpr) technique. Nearly 125 NSS volunteers actively participated in this program.They also showed various interactive videos to the students to emphasize upon the importance of road safety rules and awareness. COVID-19 AWARENESS CAMPAIGN 2021

The NSS Units of SDNB Vaishnav college for Women conducted  COVID-19 Awareness Campaign on 29th  March 2021.COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered Corona virus. Most people infected with the COVID -19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment.  The objective of our awareness program is to update on and to describe the revised guidelines in the infection, prevention and control protocols of COVID -19. We distributed pamphlets (creating awareness),face masks and wipes to the general public. Our NSS volunteers spread awareness to the community,the necessity of wearing masks,sanitation and hygiene and maintaining social distance between people. More than 300 general public were benefited out of this awareness campaign. Read More…

POSHAN PAKHWADA 2021

The NSS Units of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women observed POSHAN PAKHWADA from 15th  March 2021- 31st  March 2021. This program is an initiative in response to the pressing concern of malnutrition, anemia, low birth weight and other nutrition related problems with an aim to raising awareness to improve nutritional index of women and children across the country. The NSS Units of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women observed World Earth Day on         22nd  April 2021. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22 in 1970. Earth Day is observed to create awareness about pollution and to celebrate the environment of the blue planet. The theme of the day this year is “Restore Our Earth”. Jalshakthi Abhiyan was conducted on 11.10.2019. Dr. Carolin Arul, Associate Professor, Centre for Water Resources, Anna University spoke on water conservation.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP REPORT 2019-2020

The NSS unit of SDNB Vaishnav College for women has conducted blood donation camp on 29th August 2019 on account of NSS Day. About 150 volunteers from our college actively participated in the blood donation program and the volunteers were inspected by the doctors of Hindu Mission Hospital before donating blood. The volunteers who were not in a condition to donate blood due to the lack of fitness in their health were given advice by the doctor in order to improve their health condition. They also added their feedback that they were very much benefitted by the awareness given by the doctors and the volunteers who donated blood were happy for their service.

Dr.A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION

On account of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam’s birthday the NSS unit of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women has conducted an awareness program regarding the achievements made by Abdul Kalam. The Principal Dr.R.Geetha, Vice Principal Dr.P.Beena and NSS Programme Officers were amidst in the ceremony. Mr.M .Manoj Kumar, CEO of Students Corridor was the guest of honour and his Co –Partner  Mr.R.Manish addressed the gathering about the achievements made by Dr.A.P.J.Abdul  Kalam . They also presented a motivational video that made the students very much enthusiastic.

WORLD POPULATION DAY 2019

The NSS unit of SDNB VAISHNAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN has celebrated WORLD POPULATION DAY on 11.07.2019. There was an oath taking program and all the NSS volunteers took oath as they will spread awareness regarding population control and the impacts of population growth.

POSHAN MAAH REPORT

The NSS Unit of SDNB VAISHNAV COLLEGE FOR WOMEN has conducted Poshan Maah Program from 1st September to 30th September. The NSS volunteers took a major initiative in order to create awareness to a large number of people regarding the importance of nutrition and the consequences faced by each and every individual due to the lack of nutrition. The program was well planned and organized by the NSS Programme officers. The programs organized by the NSS volunteers were:

LITERACY DAY REPORT 2019

On account of literacy day the NSS Unit of SDNB Vaishnav College for women has organised and conducted an awareness program to teach the people in the village the importance of education on 6th September 2019. We went to a nearby village called nanmangalam and educated the children about the basic knowledge that should be acquired at the school level. The parents also cooperated to the teaching. The children also were very much interested in acquiring knowledge. They were the ones who played a major role in making the program successful.

LEPROSY DAY REPORT

The NSS Unit of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women has conducted Leprosy awareness program from 30th January to 13th February 2020.  Awareness was provided for the students regarding leprosy and the ways to prevent them from leprosy.  An awareness talk was given by an NSS Volunteer and it created knowledge about leprosy to all the volunteers. They also learnt how to behave in order if someone is affected with leprosy. An oath taking program was organized and the students took the oath that they will be good to the people affected with leprosy and they will provide awareness regarding leprosy.

JAL SHAKTI ABHIYAN

Jal Shakti Abiyan is a water conservation campaign inspired by our prime minister’s impetus on jal sanchay. The Jal Shakti Abhiyan aims at making water conservation a Jan Andolan through asset creation and extensive communication. NSS unit of SDNB Vaishnav College conducted water conservation exhibition for JAL SHAKTHI ABHIYAN on 11th October 2019. Our Principal Dr.R.Geetha, Vice Principal Dr.P.Beena and NSS Programme Officers were amidst the program. Students actively participated and won prizes. Dr.Carolin Arul, Associate professor, Centre of Water resource, Anna University was the guest of honour and she judged the different projects presented by the students and the best ideas were rewarded. Their projects created awareness about conserving water in different regions and through various methods. New innovative ideas like white water harvesting, water alarm were introduced by the students and different harvesting and conservation methods were presented in low cost. Some of the students projects were made using only waste materials and without the usage of plastics. This created a massive impact among the students about the current need of conservation methods. INDEPENDENCE DAY

On 73rd Independence Day celebration at S.D.N.B Vaishnav College, by 07:45am to 08:30am, the college representatives, lectures, Principal Dr. R. Geetha and around 150 NSS students gathered for flag hoist.In that program, a report about SWACHHTA PAKHWADA and the field learning during the service were summarized by College President.After the report, The College Principal Dr.R.Geetha declared the campus as “CLEAN INSTITUTION”. She appreciated the NSS students who involved in cleaning activities and encouraged the whole college to adopt the practice of maintaining cleanliness at all places.

FIT INDIA REPORT 2019

The NSS unit of SDNB Vaishnav College for Women has conducted FIT INDIA program on 29th august 2019. Our principal Dr.R.Geetha and NSS programme officers were amidst the program. Speech of Prime Minister NARENDRA MODI at Delhi was telecasted live to the students. He spoke about the role of each and every individual to have a healthier future of India.
