Mission:
Raising awareness about environmental issues among students and faculty through seminars and workshops.
Objectives:
Promoting sustainability and environmental consciousness, the environ club organizes eco-friendly initiatives, tree planting drives and awareness campaigns.
Outcome:
Students were able to acquire experience using their acquired knowledge and skills in taking thoughtful, positive action towards the resolution of environmental issues and problems.

Overview on Environmental Pollution
Report :
Dr. P. Saiprasad, a retired Chief Scientific Officer of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board and also a Deputy Director for Entrepreneurship development and Innovation Institute, Government of Tamil Nadu was invited by the Environ Club and Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology to render a special lecture on Environmental Pollution on 05/02/2025.
Around 204 students from Environ Club and Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology were gathered in Seminar Hall I.
Our esteemed Chief Guest interacted with the students. He introduced environmental pollution in detail, types of environmental pollution was discussed. Many issues related to Environmental Pollution was discussed. The talk was very informative and students gained knowledge on the types of environmental pollution, its causes and prevention.
Strengths Of The Program :
A total of 204 students from the Environ Club and the Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology convened in Seminar Hall I. Our esteemed Chief Guest effectively engaged the students, delivering a comprehensive overview of environmental pollution. The discussion covered key types of pollution and addressed various pertinent issues. This informative session empowered students with essential knowledge about the causes of environmental pollution and strategies for its prevention.
Challenges :
It falls upon the students to actively engage with the guidance provided by the resource person, seizing the opportunity to protect our environment which is the main challenge.
Program Outcome :

Smart strategies for a cleaner environment

Dr. Albert Premkumar a visiting scientist, Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Instituto de Recursos Naturales y Agrobiología (IRNAS), Sevilla, Spain and also an academic advisor, Bharathiyar Group of Institutions was invited by the Environ Club and Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology to render a special lecture on Smart Strategies for a Cleaner Environment on 12/02/2025.
Around 215 students from Environ Club and Department of Plant Biology and Plant Biotechnology were gathered in Seminar Hall I.
Smarter strategies for developing a cleaner environment were discussed in detail. Many newspaper clippings were shown as how our environment is being polluted and the effects of pollution which affects mankind. Smarter solutions to control and manage pollution were discussed. Students were motivated to make a difference in the society.

Seed Ball Preparation
Report :
On 17/12/2024, 200 students from the Environ Club participated in a Hand’s on training program focused on seed ball preparation. They successfully created over 1,600 seed balls using various tree species seeds, including Neem, Jamun, Arjuna, Banyan, Bodhi, Delonix, Cassia, Teak, Drumstick, Indian Gooseberry, and Pongamia. The seed balls are dried and prepared for future propagation.
Strengths Of The Program :
With a clear focus on creating a sustainable environment, 200 students from the Environ Club engaged in a hands-on training program dedicated to seed ball preparation. Their impressive efforts led to the successful production of over 1,600 seed balls, showcasing their commitment and effectiveness in making a difference. By harnessing the diverse skills and knowledge of students across fields such as science, commerce, economics, computer science, nutrition and dietetics we can create a more comprehensive and innovative approach to tackling environmental challenges. This collaborative effort is not only vital for generating impactful solutions but also for cultivating a sense of community and shared purpose in driving meaningful change for our planet.
Challenges :
Bringing together students from various departments in the environmental club has proven to be a considerable challenge. Each group comes with its own unique perspectives, interests, and approaches, this was our challenge.
Program Outcome :
Students were educated on the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. They were practically taught how to make seed balls and how they can propagate them in wastelands. Through hands-on activities and discussions, they developed a deeper understanding of how their actions impact the planet.
Campus Swachhta drive and Tree Plantation
Report :
On 01/10/2024, 85 students from the Environ Club participated in Campus Swachhata Drive and Tree Plantation. We planted nearly 30 seed samplings in our campus. The effort towards tree plantation and the Swachhata Drive has enabled us in promoting environmental sustainability and public health. Students actively participated in this innovation drive creating awareness inside the college.
Strengths Of The Program :
Students from our college’s Environ Club participated in the Campus Swachhata Drive and Tree Plantation event. We planted nearly 30 saplings on our campus to promote a sustainable environment.
Challenges :
Uniting environmental club students from different departments proved to be a significant challenge, but it’s crucial for fostering collaboration and driving powerful change.
Program Outcome :
Students were made aware, and they learned to protect and provide a cleaner environment to make it more sustainable for future mankind.
