The changing scenario in the health care and hospitality sector paved way for the establishment of the Department of Home Science in the year 2013, with an undergraduate course in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics. The three-year program, since its inception, has worked towards excellence in developing the skill-sets and innate talents of the students.

The curriculum is well structured in such a way that it covers all the aspects in food science, clinical nutrition and dietetics. The programme has been designed for students who are interested in acquiring skills in both entrepreneurial and scientific expertise.

Students undergo one month dietary internship at various multi-speciality hospitals in and around Chennai. The department is actively engaged in various extension activities like imparting nutrition education to ICDS beneficiaries. Various workshops, seminars and symposium are periodically organized by the department with eminent speakers and academicians. Students are encouraged to undertake minor research project work as part of their curriculum.

Students of the department possess a variety of skills and are respectful, passionate and confident about their department and degree. They continue to play a proactive role in enhancing the reach of the department by pursuing their post graduation courses nationwide and worldwide. They are placed as dieticians and nutritionists in renowned hospitals across the globe.
