The session was graced by Dr. Sweetline S., Assistant Professor, Department of English, Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, Chennai, who served as the esteemed resource person for the event.

The lecture commenced with a warm welcome address, followed by a brief introduction of Dr. Sweetline, highlighting her academic achievements and contributions to the field of English literature. Dr. Sweetline began the session by discussing the significance of book reviews in the literary world, emphasising how reviews bridge the gap between readers and writers by offering thoughtful interpretations and critical reflections. She provided a step-by-step demonstration on how to write an effective and balanced book review.

Beginning with the importance of understanding the author’s intent, she moved on to analysing key literary elements such as plot structure, character development, themes, and narrative style. Dr. Sweetline also underscored the need for objectivity, clarity, and personal insight while composing reviews, reminding students that a good reviewer not only summarizes but also evaluates and engages critically with the text.

In the latter part of the session, she focused on oral review techniques, guiding students on how to present their book analyses confidently in front of an audience. Through interactive activities, she encouraged participants to share their impressions of recently read books and helped them transform spontaneous opinions into well-structured critiques. Her approachable manner and practical guidance created an atmosphere of enthusiasm and intellectual curiosity.

The session was marked by active student participation, as members of the Delight Book Club eagerly engaged in discussions, asked insightful questions, and sought feedback on their reviewing approaches.
