The Women Entrepreneurship Development Programme was successfully conducted at our college premises with the support and funding from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, and the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology. The programme aimed to empower women by providing hands-on training in entrepreneurial activities such as mushroom cultivation, millet production, and cake baking, fostering self-reliance and economic independence. Over 35 participants successfully completed the training, gaining awareness of small-scale business opportunities, with several showing interest in starting their own ventures. To encourage them, the college facilitated networking and collaboration opportunities by providing stalls for business growth. The programme featured notable speakers, including Mrs. Kamalika Krishmy, CEO of The Brown Box Company, and Mrs. Kadambari Umapathy, CEO of the Women Entrepreneurship Development Organisation (WEDO), who delivered insightful lectures. Additionally, participants received a free three-month membership in WEDO, further supporting their entrepreneurial journey. This initiative not only equipped women with essential skills but also motivated them to explore self-employment as a sustainable career option.
