University of Madras A-Zone Women’s Football Tournament – 2025

The University of Madras A-Zone Women’s Football Tournament was proudly hosted by SDNB Vaishnav College for Women on 16th September 2025. A total of eight women’s teams participated in the tournament, which was conducted on a knockout basis. The matches were officiated by five nationally qualified referees, ensuring fair play and professional standards throughout the event.

The tournament was formally inaugurated at 8.30 a.m. by Dr. R. Selvani, Convener and A-Zone Women’s Director of Physical Education, University of Madras, and Dr. M.G.R. Janaki College.

Results of the Tournament:

• 🏆 Winner – SDNB Vaishnav College for Women

• 🥈 Runner-up – M.O.P. Vaishnav College for Women

• 🥉 Third Place – Queen Mary’s College for Women

The prize distribution ceremony was held at 5.30 p.m., where the winning teams were honoured by our Principal (In-charge) S/Lt. Dr. K. Kanthimathi and Director Dr. M. S. Vijaya.

The tournament not only showcased the spirit of competition and sportsmanship but also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for women’s football at the University level.

CM Trophy District Match Results 2025-26

Dr K.Kanthimathi won Silver medal in Badminton (Singles) and Dr K.Kanthimathi & Ms.L.Divyabharathi won Bronze medal   in CM Trophy District Government Employee Category Badminton (Doubles) match held at TNPES University on 31/8/25.

F.G.Avanthika III B.com PA won First place in CM Trophy District Chess event held at TNPES University on 2/9/25.

• Harshithaa III B.Com PA & P. Varsha II B.Sc CS AI won Bronze medal in CM Trophy District Table Tennis (Doubles) match held at TNPES University on 29/08/2025.
• Moksha & B. Jackline II BBA won Second place in CM Trophy District Carrom (Doubles) match held at TNPES University on 01/09/2025.

57th Annual Sports day Photos 2024-25

The 57th Annual Sports Day Valedictory was conducted on 22nd February 2025 in our premises. Mr.S.John Sundar, Additional Superintendent of Police (CBCID), presided over the function and delivered the Valedictory Address at 10 a.m. The Chief Guest addressed the students on the importance of discipline and how sports teach patience, perseverance, and fighting spirit. He emphasised the value system of respecting the teachers and their role in shaping our lives. He felicitated the University, National, State medallists and the NCC cadets. He distributed the prizes to the winners of various events conducted for Sports day.

Our Chengalpat football team triumphed in the CM state match final, securing the first prize! Among the 20 team members, 8 are our talented students, each receiving ₹75,000 as a well-deserved reward. Congratulations to the team on this remarkable achievement! 🏆⚽ #FootballTeamVictory

In which 8 Colleges participated, The Winner is MOP Vaishnav College, Runner is SDNB Vaishnav College, Third Queen Mary’s College and Fourth Bharathi Women’s College.

That’s great news! Congratulations to the students who participated in the Khelo India Inter University Football match and achieved third place. It’s a commendable achievement to represent their university and perform well in a competitive event. Such experiences not only contribute to their personal growth but also showcase their skills and dedication in sports.

11 of our students’  participated in the Khelo India Inter University Football match held at  Assam from 18/2/24 to 27/2/24 and they got Third place.

Our students secured the Overall Championship in 8^th Chev.Dr.N.R.Dhanapalan Inter Collegiate Athletics Meet held at Nehru Stadium on 7/2/24.

Our College Chess team won the Championship  Inter collegiate Chess Tournament held at Mohamed sathak college on 22/1/2024. The participants are K.Anushiya suhkirtha II  B.com CA,Y.Vaishavi II Bsc.DS, Keerthana Priya I Bsc.Viscom,Avanthika I B.com PA, Karuniya I BBA.Received 5000/- cash award

Our College Table Tennis team won Championship in open Inter collegiate Tournament held at Mohamed sathak college on 22/1/2024.the participants are S.Srivaishnavi II B.com (eve), N.D.Harshini II A&F, H.Harshithaa I B.com PA. They received Rs 5000/- cash award

T.Rubika II B.com(eve) won First place in Single stick & Second place in Double stick Silambam event. She  received Rs2000 & Rs1000 cash award

A.Rubhalakshmi II B.com CA got Second place in Fight in Silambam event. she received Rs1000 cash award

Our college secured the Overall Championship in Sports held at  Mohamed sathak college 22/1/24 &23/1/24.

University of Madras won Silver medal in South India Inter University football championship 2023-24 at Calicut University. Out of 20 players in 11 of them are our players (SDNB) Totally 40 South India University participated. Madras University qualified for All India inter university competition.

AL Athletic Meet  organized by the Department of Physical Education  University of Madras  from 20/12/23 to 22/12/23 at TNPESU Melakottaiyur. In which our college got overall Third place with 3 Gold, 2 silver,  2 Bronze. 

University of Madras  Inter – zone Football (Women)  Tournament organized by the Department of Physical Education in our College on December 17, 2023. In which 4 teams  participated, The Winner was SDNB Vaishnav College, Runner was Ethiraj College, Third was B-zone combined team and Fourth was A-zone combined team.

54^th Annual Sports Meet was inaugurated by Sri.Anwar basha MA, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Tambaram Commiserate on 1st March 2023, at 9.00am at Jawaharlal Nehru stadium and Mrs.J.E.Kavitha, MBA ( Alumna) women FIDE Master, World federation Certified-Chess Instructor, FIDE Arbiter presided over and Distributed Prizes in the Valedictory Function on 1/3/23 at 2.30 pm Jawaharlal Nehru stadium.

Sports -Inter Department Match 2022-23

N.Hemamalini, the pride of our college, studying M.A HRM has secured the Gold Medal in Javelin Throw in the All India Inter-University Games.  She has achieved the Record Holder title by securing 46.54 m in Khelo India Games in Javelin Throw. The Government of Tamilnadu has rewarded her feat with Rs.5,00,000.

• 19 National Players. Out of which 5 have won Gold 5 Silver Medals in National Events.
• Among 26 State players, 6 won Gold, 4 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals.
• In Inter Collegiate events our 13 teams won several trophies. Five teams won Championships, 4 teams were Runners-up and 7 Teams bagged the third place
• Our 31 Inter zone players got 3 Gold, 3 Silver and 16 Bronze in events held at University of Madras.
• Our College hosted State Women football League matches from 19/11/19 to 11/01/2020

I am very happy to say that this year also we have come up with a very impressive performance. Indeed it’s a privilege to place before you a report of the Sports achievements of our College for the academic year 2018-2019.

In this Golden Jubilee year we are happy to say we have more than 388 State players, 276 University Blues, 196 National players, 6 Ball badminton players as Star of India and 28 Inter National players.

I am happy to say three of our students T.P.Kavi bharathi of II Maths (eve), V.Kokila devi IIIB.com & M.Taherabegum II M.com Received Rs 2000/- each from Prof.P.Duraisamy,Vice Chancellor, University of Madras in the Annual award function on 4th July 2018 for their achievement in the All India Inter University winning Bronze medals in Football and Ball badminton respectively.
