University of Madras A-Zone Women’s Football Tournament – 2025
The University of Madras A-Zone Women’s Football Tournament was proudly hosted by SDNB Vaishnav College for Women on 16th September 2025. A total of eight women’s teams participated in the tournament, which was conducted on a knockout basis. The matches were officiated by five nationally qualified referees, ensuring fair play and professional standards throughout the event.
The tournament was formally inaugurated at 8.30 a.m. by Dr. R. Selvani, Convener and A-Zone Women’s Director of Physical Education, University of Madras, and Dr. M.G.R. Janaki College.

The prize distribution ceremony was held at 5.30 p.m., where the winning teams were honoured by our Principal (In-charge) S/Lt. Dr. K. Kanthimathi and Director Dr. M. S. Vijaya.
The tournament not only showcased the spirit of competition and sportsmanship but also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for women’s football at the University level.
