B.Com General (SFS)
Established in 1984, the Department of Commerce (Self-Financing Stream) has grown steadily to meet the increasing demand for quality commerce education. Offering the B.Com General programme, the department combines academic rigor with industry-oriented learning, designed with insights from professionals and industrialists. The programme is enriched through ICT-enabled teaching, internships, soft skills training and guest lectures from industry experts. Students are encouraged to participate in workshops, webinars, Young Research Projects (YRP), competitions and alumni interactions, creating a holistic and engaging learning environment.
The department is supported by excellent infrastructure, including spacious smart classrooms, a dedicated computer lab with updated accounting software such as Tally and ERP, and seamless Wi-Fi connectivity. A well-resourced library with books, journals and e-databases further strengthens academic learning. Facilities such as a seminar hall, cafeteria and student lounge ensure a vibrant campus life, while a separate self-finance block provides focused academic engagement. Students also gain practical exposure through industrial visits, mini-projects and case studies, guided by experienced and qualified faculty members.
Career readiness is a hallmark of the department, with a strong placement cell connecting students to top recruiters such as Accenture, TCS, Deloitte and Sutherland. Many students also benefit from add-on and certificate programmes in areas such as GST, Digital Marketing and Investment Banking, strengthening their employability. Beyond academics, the department nurtures leadership, teamwork and social responsibility through cultural events, NSS activities, commerce clubs, debates and business quizzes. With strong alumni support, entrepreneurial initiatives and consistent placement records, the Department of Commerce (SFS) continues to groom competent graduates who thrive in the dynamic fields of commerce, finance and business management.
