M.Sc Computer Science (SFS)

The Postgraduate Department of Computer Science began its academic journey in 2001 with the introduction of the M.Sc. (IT) programme under the Self-Supporting stream. In 2014, the curriculum was restructured into the M.Sc. (Computer Science) programme to align with emerging technological trends, and in 2019, the department was elevated to a Research Department with the launch of the M.Phil programme. Since its inception, the department has been committed to delivering quality education through highly qualified faculty, industry collaborations and a forward-looking curriculum. The programme integrates a wide spectrum of advanced areas including Full Stack Development, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Cloud Analytics, Cybersecurity and modern frontiers like Federated Learning, GenAI and Large Language Models.

A strong research culture distinguishes the Department, with faculty members actively guiding M.Phil and Ph.D. scholars while encouraging students to present and publish their work in reputed conferences, patents and indexed journals. The department regularly organizes International and National Seminars, Workshops, Student Development Programmes, Invited Talks and AI Club activities, creating a platform for innovation, academic exchange, and industry-relevant learning. To further enhance employability, students are encouraged to complete certified online courses through Swayam (NPTEL) and Coursera, equipping them with additional technical expertise.

The Department also provides state-of-the-art infrastructure with advanced computer laboratories, high-speed Wi-Fi and ICT-enabled classrooms to support effective teaching and research. Internships and industry-aligned projects form a key component of the programme, ensuring practical exposure and skill development. Graduates have successfully secured placements in leading IT firms, startups and research organizations, while many pursue careers in academia, higher research and entrepreneurial ventures.
