B.Sc Computer Science (SFS)
Established in 2000, the Department of Computer Science (Self-Financing) was founded with a vision to empower women through quality education in computing and technology. The B.Sc. Computer Science programme was introduced to meet the rising demand for skilled IT professionals and to widen access to technical education. In response to increasing interest and industry relevance, a second batch was added in 2010, effectively doubling the intake and expanding the department’s academic impact. The department offers a technology-driven, industry-aligned curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with practical application. It is supported by advanced infrastructure, including high-performance computing labs, smart classrooms, high-speed internet, and digital teaching tools—fostering an interactive and experiential learning environment.
A dedicated team of experienced faculty members actively contribute to teaching, mentoring, and research. Their scholarly work is regularly published in Scopus and Web of Science-indexed journals, reflecting the department’s strong research culture. To enhance student learning and professional readiness, the department offers value-added programs such as mandatory summer internships, Coursera, NPTEL and funded undergraduate research projects. These are supplemented by a robust lineup of seminars, workshops, guest lectures, and intercollegiate symposiums that promote innovation and skill development.
Students of the department have consistently excelled in academics and co-curricular competitions. With a consistent 100% placement record, graduates have secured positions in reputed multinational companies as Software Developers, Web and Mobile App Developers, Data Scientists, and Quality Assurance Engineers. Staying true to its founding vision of empowerment through education, the department continues to shape tech-savvy women professionals poised to lead in a digitally driven world.
