Course Highlights

Faculty with subject expertise, spacious labs, exhaustive specimen collections, well-timed field trips are some of the special features of the department. The department has done a remarkable service to the society by turning out eco-conscious graduates, post graduates and research scholars.

The Department organizes field visits to Research Centres, various biomedical laboratories as well as industrial visits to Commercial firms. We are giving hands on training on Mushroom cultivation, Spirulina cultivation, Biofertilizer production, and Vermicompost. The department maintains its own Medicinal and Kitchen Garden. Other institutional visits expose them to environmental initiatives, while visits to the Irula Tribal Centre help them to learn more about traditional medicine. Visits to the sea coast for algal collection are also a part of our curriculum. We have intercollege programs to evaluate ourselves to be in accordance with the rapidly developing fields of Science

B.Sc.(Statistics) has a curriculum designed with a vision to suit Industry and Higher education requirements. A strong syllabi for core and core electives courses, taught with great rigour ensures students mobility towards higher education.  Courses on latest software and programming languages like R programming, C++ Programming, SPSS, MSEXCEL, MS-ACCESS are offered to cater to industry needs leading to good placements. Hands-on training on Exploratory Data Analysis through group Mini Projects is a salient feature of the programme. Apart from these students take-up Computing Skills as a Self Learning Component and Spoken Tutorials offered by Ministry of HRD and IIT Bombay as soft-skills component.

Course Highlights

The course prepares students for the future by inculcating an interest in literature and to learn the nuances of the English language  through practice of LSRW skills. Syllabus is designed to balance interest in literature and   develop a competency in spoken English            

Journalism, an elective subject has been introduced to hone their creative skills and also a prepare  them for a career in journalism after their post graduation
