Environmental Studies
The Department of Environmental Sciences was established to advance environmental awareness, scientific understanding and sustainable practices in response to escalating global ecological concerns. Since its inception in 2023, the Department has developed into a vibrant centre for environmental education, research and community outreach.
The Department offered foundational courses in ecology, environmental studies and pollution management, reflecting the Institution’s commitment to fostering environmental literacy. The Department’s growth has been strengthened by a dedicated team of highly qualified faculty members with expertise in environmental chemistry, ecology, climate science, waste management, GIS, sustainability and environmental policy. Rich field-study resources and partnerships with government agencies, industries, NGOs and research organizations have further enhanced its academic and research capabilities.
A major milestone in the Department’s development was the introduction of the Environmental StudiesProgramme, designed to offer holistic education through fieldwork andresearch projects. This programme plays a significant role in preparing students to become environmentally conscious and professionally competent individuals.The Department also actively leads initiatives such as the Eco-Club, environmental outreach programmes, campus green audits and sustainability campaigns, providing students with valuable experiential learning opportunities to address real-world environmental challenges.
